Currently Loving Beauty ~ February 2017

Hey Friends,

Happy Valentines Day!!

So I thought that today, as it is "the day of love" that I would share with you all the things I am currently loving... Beauty wise. So here we go  -

Also let me know in the comments what you have been loving at the moment or if you agree with any of my choices!!

PS... Kiss Proof, Matt Lipsticks

These have been a new obsession for me. I spotted them in pennys new display & I was like "hell ya" I picked up these 2 to try them out but I will definately be picked up more during the week & will have a full review coming for you guys!! The shades I picked up were Shadow & Slay. I have definately been getting alot more use out of Shadow but I love them both!!

Bioderma Moisturising Stick

So have been having a real problem with my lips and hands lately. Dry, sore, cracked. I think its just a combo of being run down, the weather & not taking care of myself. I was wandering through a random pharmacy, with no intention of buying anything when I came across this. I'm sure its not new but I had never seen it before. I have been loving it. It just seems to soothe & repair my lips. Considering I am addicted to matt lipstick I need to get the pout back in good condition & this seems to be doing the job!!

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Hand Cream

Like I said my hands have been a problem as well dry cracked and sore. I orignally put sudocream on it & it really helped. It fixed the soreness & cracking but I needed something to follow up & I have been loving this hand cream. Its been keeping them baby soft. I love it!!

PS... Stilletto Nails

I have been really drawn to this Stilletto Nail trend but I'm still not sure I want to completely commit to getting them permanent with gel or acrillic so I have decided to use the PS... falsies until I'm ready to comit. I love them! They last on my for about a week I can paint & design them. They do come in different colours but I like to get the nude ones and decide myself what colour I would like to wear that week. I think the glue that is included with them is fantastic!! If your looking for some temporary false nails I can't recommend these enough!!

PS... Miracle Primer

I have already done a full review on these & I honestly can't recommend this product enough. If you would like to read the full review you can just click on it here - Full Review || PS... PRO Miracle Primer

These are all the products that have stood out to me recently & been making me happy!! Don't forget to leave me a comment down below & let me know the products that have been making you happy!! Also let me know your thoughts on any of the products I have mentioned!!

Hope you are having a wonderful Valentines Day!!

Beauty La Linda - MUA || Where I spend & Splurge on Beauty!

Hello there my Beauties,

Today I want to talk to you about where I spend & splurge when it comes to beauty. This whole beauty business can get very expensive from skincare to makeup... not to mention treatments, hair care & nails. We are a high maintenance lot when you think about it! However I believe there are many ways to cut costs but still shine. I'm warning you now, this is going to be a long one so go on love, grab yourself a cuppa, sit back, relax & enjoy!  Here are my tips,

Skincare

Now most people will say this is where they splurge. I would say here I stay in the mid-range price range. I like to find skincare that works well with my skin but doesn't cost a bomb at the same time. I know that in the future I will splurge more on skincare as it is something I adore & I firmly believe that if you take care of your skincare it will benefit you your entire life & it will also mean you can spend less on make up as you will have less to cover up! If you would like to know the skincare products I'm loving at the moment, I talked about it on Blogmas & you can click here if you missed it - Blogmas #2 || Holiday Skin Saviours

I do like to splurge on facials every now & again! It just gives your skin a boost and you feel fresh & renewed after it!! I also use at home masks every week or every second week. again these don't break the bank & they give my skin a little life. I will have a whole post on all my favourite masks coming up very soon!!

Makeup

Who doesn't want to splurge on makeup?? Answer = everyone whos reading this post I'm guessing. Who wants to say no to Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Channel or Christian Dior. Nobody who loves makeup or calls themselves makeup junkies wants to turn a blind eye to this lot, but honestly it's not in my budget at this point of my life. I have found that that you can find amazing products on the high street or drugstore.

All brands have upped their game in recent years & now there is a product available for every need or want you could ever have. Also there are so many dupes now as well and the quality of drugstore products are just as good if not better than their more expensive counterparts.

This is definitely where I save most of my money due to research of the best drugstore products. I will splurge every now & again but not on a regular basis.

Hair care

Where I save on hair care is through the products I use which are mainly drugstore products & hair dying, most of the time I will do it by myself. I dye my hair my natural colour every six months to a year. I have no roots as it's the same colour as my natural hair but it freshens it up and makes it look more alive.

Where I splurge on hair care - Any hair cutting I will get done professionally (I have learned the hard way in the past) also any colouring that is not my own colour naturally (I don't trust myself with that either) In the past I have also got treatments done when I destroyed my hair by bleaching it to death. Now its quite healthy I will only use coconut oil & at home treatments which are more bank account friendly. Now the only time I head off to the hairdressers is usually because of an important event (really important or I will do it myself), hair cutting or if I decide to seriously change my look but this hasn't happened for a while.

Another way I splurge on hair care is by purchasing extensions & hair tools. Mainly my ghd Artic Gold but I also own an Andrew Barton Straightener, Heated rollers, Hair curlers & Hair dryer. To be honest I believe in investing in items like these that will last you years. They usually pay for themselves in the long run.

I realise in this photo it looks like the extensions are very dark but in real life they are the exact same colour as my hair!

Nails

Here is usually where I save. I generally have good nails, although I have to admit that at the moment they are not in the best condition. However I usually just do my nails myself. I really quite enjoy it to be honest. I find it kind of therapeutic, kind of like colouring except with my nails instead of adult colouring books (although I do enjoy them too)

When I last cleared out my nail polish collection I found I had almost 200 polishes... I mean who needs that amount of nail polish. I have since cleared them out by nearly half but I do love them! My favourite brands are Maybelline, Essence, Catrice, Wet & Wild, Barry M & the PS... range from Penny's / Primark.

If you ever need tips and tricks on doing your own nails then I find Youtubers and Bloggers very inspirational! You are bound to find some style or idea you like!

However once a year I will usually get them done professionally. I like to get gel nails. I love how they look & it feels like a real treat. The only thing that puts me off getting them done is the condition my nails are in after they are taken off. I always get them taken off professionally but my nails usually take weeks to recover after having them on.

Tanning

This is another one where I like to save money. I like to do my tan myself. I think most people do now these days as there is such a wide variety on the market now & you no longer have to spend a fortune or aquire the assistance of a professional to get your perfect glow. It is a skill that needs to be learned & practice makes perfect but there are now so many brands, tools & tutorials available now to help with all your tanning needs. My favourite brands at the moment is the Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan & Sally Hansen. In Blogmas this year I talked I gave my full review on these brands. You can check them out here - Blogmas || Winter Glow! .

On the rare occasion I will get it done professionally, like for a wedding or something really important but this is really. Again I prefer to do it myself I think alot of times. I think it's more of a control thing. In case I don't like how it turns out. Even though I know 9 times out 10 it would be perfect...

Hair Removal

Generally I just shave when it comes to my legs and under arms but I always get bikini waxing done professionally. I think women who shave down there are heros. I can't be dealing with all that faf at all! To be honest if I thought it was viable cost wise I would probably get everything waxed but I would always forget or find it hard to make time for appointments.. it's just alot easier to shave. Unless I'm going on holiday I generally just stick to shaving.

I would like to look more into laser hair removal as now that it's getting more popular, technology is getting better & no there are at-home tools available it seems like it might be a good idea.

Things I will always splurge on

Lash Extensions - There is no way I can do this by myself. In between extensions I will use individual falsies. My favourite are PS... Individual Lashes from Pennys / Primark. You check out my full review here - Review || PS... Eyelashes

Massages - Again I can't do this for myself so if I feel like I'm in need of a massage I will have to splurge!

Selfie I took the last time I got my lash extensions done!!

Basically If I think I can do it myself I will for everyday purposes. With all the online tutorials there will always be help on hand if you want to get that perfect glow or learn the technique of nail art. I love learning new things when it comes to beauty anyway so I enjoy being able to do most beauty treatments myself but sometimes you just want to treat yourself too & that's ok too! However I honestly believe I wouldn't be able to have my nails, makeup, tan or hair the way I do if I didn't learn how to do it myself as it just wouldn't be possible to get them done professionally all the time.

I believe what you decide to spend or splurge on is really a personal thing, but I also believe you don't have to spend a million dollars to look or feel a million dollars.

My Tips

  • If you think you can do it, give it a go... What's the worst that can happen?
  • Do your research when it comes to products. The drugstore offers so many quality products now & offer so many dupes to many top dollar products!
  • Compare & Research before getting treatments done, this way you can be sure you are getting the best treatment for the price, that way you'll get the most bang for your buck!!
  • If spending on tools, look for good quality that will see you through a couple of years. See them as an investment.
  • If you have a splurgy personality then do it as a reward system or pick certain times of the year to treat yourself, that way you can still have a little luxury in life as well!! It's all about balance & moderation, unless of course you have the bank balance to back it up! #yougogirl

These are all the things that on spend and splurge on! Please let me know in the comments what you like spend and splurge on I would love to know!! I'm always interested to know where people feel the need to invest their money in when it comes to beauty!!

Review || The Leakey Collection, Marula Facial Oil

Hello there beauties,

Welcome to my first post of 2017!! I thought I would start the year off with a review. Every year I like to think of January as a pamper month. We have all been run ragged with the festivities of Christmas and now we are paying the price. We are tired, possibly run down and our skin and bodies are feeling the effects of a months worth of bad food choices!

My first review is of a little product that might just give your skin the pick me up it needs. It is the Marula Facial Oil.

I was kindly send this by the company but I am under no obligation to feature them on this blog & I am not getting paid for this review. As I have I always promised this review will be frank and honest and will represent my true feelings on this product.

The company sent me a 30ml bottle of their Pure Marula Facial Oil, East Africa. It claims to be a light, fast absorbing Marula Oil, rich in antioxidants & omega acids, effectively moisturises skin to help reduce visable signs of aging. Big claims for a little bottle!

I have normal to dry skin so to say I was excited by it's arrival is an understatement. Any time I see a product with these kinds of claims, you can sign me up! Also considering that I am turning 27 in 3 months anti - aging is also a welcome claim. It's always a good idea to get a jump on things.

First of all I love the smell. It smells like a spa full of essential oils so when ever I use it, it feels like a proper pampering session. I also love the texture, its not thick or gloopy (anyone who's been here long enough will know I hate the sticky feeling & residue some products leave)

I do honestly feel like my skin feels calmer and more nourished after using this product.

Anything I don't like?

Do not get this stuff in your eyes! Seems obvious doesn't it but it has accidentally happened to me (more times than I care to admit) and it stings like a mother******. Seriously do your best to avoid this!!

Although it claims to be fast absorbing, It is but only when used on it's own... It doesn't absorb quickly over other products. To be honest this is probably my own fault as I was using a thick moisturiser underneath and I have no patience when it comes to products drying in between so I don't think it could penetrate the barrier as quickly.

Would I recommend this product!?

Absolutely! It really does make your skin feel nourished after a long busy day, the spa like scents also help you to relax & I find it makes my skin care routine more pleasurable as I feel like I am really doing something to help & pamper my skin. My boyfriend has also used this & it worked great for his skin too. He is skin is normal/oily.

This 30ml bottle retails for about E31 but if you want a product that will go the extra mile with your skin and you really want to pamper it then give this a go! You won't be disappointed & to be honest I can't think of a better way to start off the new year then by pampering yourself!!

Beauty Blogmas #20 || Currently Loving

Hello Everyone,

So as you will have noticed many days have been skipped & there are many reasons for this. I will not bore you with this now. Instead I will create  a proper post where I will be telling you about it. Anyway Its 5 DAYS TO CHRISTMAS! WTF??

Lets get back to Blogmas!! Here is day 20!! Enjoy!!

Skincare

Pennys Lip Scrub

I mentioned this lip scrub in Blogmas #2 || Holiday Skin Saviours which you can check out by clicking here -> Full Post. I told you it was a recent purchase & I was enjoying it but I didn't like the thought of it having dead skin on it so I had to make sure it was clean everytime I finished using it. Although that fact still remains I really love this little product. It really does work and I love the way my lips feel after using it & applying a lip balm. I definitely recommend you give this little product a go if you are looking for a new lip scrub to try out!

W7 Lip Bomb

I got this Lip balm in a set of three which I have broken up so I have kept one & I will be adding the other two to the gifts of two of my friends. I love to do this with gifts as I think sometimes its nice to let everyone try the brand. Especially when a set consists of things like 3 lip balms. It takes a while to get through even one lip balm! I am very impressed with this one! I chose to keep the Raspberry flavour for myself & I am glad I picked them up. I am also now confident that they are a good addition to my friends gifts.

Garnier SkinActive Moisturise Bomb

This was a product that I had heard a lot about so when I was in need of a new moisturiser I decided to give it a whirl! This product was also mentioned in my post Blogmas #2 Holiday Skincare Saviours. Again that was a new enough product to me when I was writing the post. I have to say though from day one this product has impressed me! I love the consistency of it! Its like a thin gel formula that melts and feels like water when you apply it to the skin. My skin just loves this stuff especially now that the winter weather is upon us and has caused my skin to completely dry up!! I definitley recommend this!

Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Tissue Masks

These are another genius little product from the same range from Garnier! Garnier are showing they got game at the moment. Throwing out little wonder products left, right and center! When your skin feels dried up from the weather this is the perfect product to give it the boost it needs to spring back to life!! I think everyone can agree that I look extremely attractive in this picture & that my boyfriend is a very lucky guy!! haha

Pennys / Primark, PS... PRO Miracle Primer - Prep & Perfect

Pennys / Primark have brought their range of PRO Makeup this year including two new primers (I have only seen two anyway) I included both of them in my Beauty Blogmas #1 || Festive / Winter Makeup Essentials -> Full Post. This one is the PS... PRO Miracle Primer. When I first picked this up & tried it, the first thing it reminded me of was the Benefit Porefessional Primer! I was so excited to see how it compares & The result? In my eyes its a dupe, from the texture of it applying it, to the colour, to the way it applies & the way my skin feels after! I also think the staying power & performance is just as good. To be honest I think I will be purchasing this rather than the porefessional as it is a fraction of the price.

Collection Precision Contouring Stick - Light 1

I've only had this product for about 3 maybe 4 months now and I love it. Its the perfect consistency, blendable without being too creamy or cakey. I feel like it gives me the perfect shadow under my cheek bones with minimal effort. I'm not sure if this shade would work for you if you were much darker than me (MAC NW 20) but I have seen that they have darker shades in the range so hopefully there will be one to suit you should you decide to try it out!

Essence Extreme Lasting Eye Pencil - Easy Glide & Waterproof

This is also a newer purchase. I used to use the regular Essence Kohl pencil but when I needed a new one I decided to pick up this one. It looks new but it might not be. Over the years I have tried out many a kohl liner believe me! It was one of the first makeup items I started using back in the day. I have quite watery eyes, nothing super crazy but generally eyeliners will bleed on me and it is something that I have noticed, been conscious of & just generally accepted was always going to be the case but with this one I have noticed that it doesn't bleed. I have been so impressed with this liner! I highly recommend it!!

Essence Velvet Stick - Matt Lip Colour - 02 Peony Star

I hauled this a few months & I have included it in Blogmas # Festive / Winter Beauty Essentials. This month I have really been loving this product all over again! In Fact I'm going to have to pick another one as I am nearly out!! That's a positive review for the product in itself!

These are the products I have been loving this month! I may have another currently loving next month as it is the season for beauty after all!! Let me know in the comments below what have been your beauty picks of the month or you can leave me links to your post if you have done it in blog post form. I'd love to know & I am always on the look out for new products to try out!! #beautyaddict

Beauty Blogmas #2 || Holiday Skin Saviours

Hello beauties,

Welcome to DAY 2!!! Still can't believe it!! Woohoo!! Today I want to talk about my favourite skincare products for this time of year. *Dont forget about the GIVEAWAY All links and details will be at the end of this post.

This time of year can really play havok with our skin! My skin is generally normal to dry but this time of year it is definitely more on the dry side. These are the products I have been using recently & I am very happy with the way they are working for me. None of these products are super expensive either so if you are looking to add or swap out and item in your routine then any of these should be easily accessible and should also fit most budgets.

You can also kind of see this as my up-dated winter skincare routine. When looking through these products you will notice that many of them are simple or really hydrating. This is because my skin gets more sensitive and dry so I prefer to use products that don't include harsh chemicals or anything that is going to irritate my skin. If you have similar problems these products just might help!! Besides I always think clean and hydrating products are always a good idea!!

*Disclaimer -There are many Boots products in this review. This is simply because I like the range not because I'm being sponsored in anyway. They have no idea I am writing this post.

Cleansers

At the moment I am using two cleansers. The first one is an oil cleanser. It is the Simple - Kind to Skin Hydrating Cleansing Oil. This contains pure grapeseed oil and multi-vitimins & claims that it doesn't contain artificial perfume or colour. I picked this up recently enough and it says new on the label but I'm not sure exactly how new it is. Its new to me anyway and I'm enjoying it so far. My second cleanser is the Boots Essentials Cucumber Cleansing Lotion For All Skin Types. I like to use this for my second cleanse because its creamy, gentle and the cucumber makes it refreshing.

Facial Scrub

As my skin gets really dry I have to exfoliate to combat any flakiness but as my skin is more sensitive I can't use anything that is too harsh. For a while now I have been using Boots Simply Sensitive Cleansing Jelly Ball Scrub with Aloe Vera. I find it has worked very well with my skin.

Micellar Water

I having been putting many micellar waters to the test in the past couple of months (Reviews coming soon) and I have yet to find one that I prefer to the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (Original) I know there are different types available so if this one doesnt work for your skin type I'm sure there will be another one in the range for you!!

Facial Toner

Again some toners can be very harsh. I always try to include one into my routine as they restore the PH balance in your skin after all that cleansing. I'm sure the one I am currently using is not the most gentle in the world but I have been using it since the summer and it takes such a long time to go through them. So I'm going to continue using it until its all gone. Also you use so little of it I don't think it will cause much damage. It doesn't seem to be causing my skin any irritation any way. The one I am referring to is the Boots Cucumber Facial Toner For All Skin Types. I know it contains alcohol but I find it refreshing (again must be the cucumber).

Eye Cream/Gel

I have two that I am currently using. One in the morning & one in the evening. In my morning routine I have been using the Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Gel for all skin types and for my evening routine I have been using the Boots Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream with Aloe Vera.

Facial Serum

The serum I am currently loving is the Lacura Face Care Renew Q10 Anti Wrinkle Multi Intensive Serum.  Im a big fan of the Lacura serums I have a review of the Lacura Aqua Complete Multi Intensive Serum (Full Review) I decided to pick this one up instead to give it ago & I have to say I am very impressed with this range.

Moisturisers

I have three main moisturisers. One for daytime and 2 that I alternate between for nighttime. The daytime moisturiser I have been using Boots Simply Sensitive Protecting Day Moisturiser SPF15 with Aloe Vera. I like that it is once again a clean and fragrance free product. The evening moisturisers that I have been chopping and changing between are Benefit Total Moisture & Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb - Super Recharging Antioxidant Gel-Cream (Night). I have been loving these!!. The Benefit one is super rich and nourishing & the Garnier one is really hydrating. I love the gel formula of it. It just sinks into my skin!!

Oils

The oil I'm currently using and testing out was kindly sent to me by the company, although I am not being paid to talk about it & they have no idea I am including it in this post. It is the Omega Rich Pure Marula Oil. I am really enjoying it so far but promise to have a full review coming soon!

Lipcare

I am very unfortunate in the winter time with dry lips, so to try and combat the dryness and the chapping I use a lip scrub and lip blams. The lip scrub I am currently using (and I'm actually surprised with how much I like) is the PS... Lip Scrub. I picked it up originally for review and spoiler - I'm very impressed with the results! I really like the texture & how my lips feel after using it! The only thing I don't like is that it's in stick form. I don't like the idea of dead skin being left or stuck on it so I always try and clean it after using it. Another lip scrub that I would recommend are the ones from LUSH. I really enjoyed using the Bubblegum one.

Lip balms are also very important to me this time of year. My all time lip saver is the Carmex range! But I also like the Nivea lip balms & the one I am currently using is the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Lip Balm with SPF 20. I still prefer the Carmex but I do really like it.

These are all the products I have been currently using & I think they are working for me! Leave me a comment below with any of your skin saviour recommendations!! I'd love to hear them!

*DON'T FORGET - GIVEAWAY still open, details below.

Shower Time Essentials

Hello There Everyone!

& welcome back! Today I want to tell you all about my Shower Essentials.... Just the products I use on a daily basis! I have already done a post on my Makeup & Skincare Essentials which you can read just by clicking on this link Makeup & Skincare Travel Essentials. This got me thinking... maybe some people might be interested to know what products I like to use in the shower? Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed this type of post or not!

Showers for me (as Im sure for most people) vary. Theres the "Im Late, Not much time but must be clean, 10 min shower" & then there is the "I have as much time as I want, I feel like living in the shower for an hour shower" Im going to focus on the latter more so.

So what products do I consider essential to my shower routine??

Shampoo & Conditioner

So at the moment I am using Pantene shampoo & Conditioner. The Shampoo is the Pro-V Lightweight & Nourishment one & the conditioner is the Instant Hydration Against Extreme Summer Dryness - Summer Edition. They are different but from the same family. To be honest, I dont look very hard or try very much to experiment with shampoos & conditioners. Although it is something I am getting into a bit more. I think its because in the past (from my beach blonde phase) I had very dry & damaged hair but over the years I have gotten it back to a healthy condition again (with a lot help from my amazing hairdresser at Peter Mark, Boy was her work cut out for her) but now that it is healthy again I dont really worry about what I use on it, Shampoo & Conditioner wise as it pretty much all does the same job but in recent times (& this could be because I have been watching a few hair care routine videos on YouTube) I have been putting a bit more thought into the products I use to wash my hair.

Body Scrub

I always like to have a good body scrub on hand. I actually currently dont have one at the moment, but for me it is pretty much essential if I want to keep up a faux tanning routine. When I dont have one to hand what I will do instead, is keep a pair of exfoliating gloves like these ones pictured here (I love the colour of them) and then turn any shower gel into an exfoliater. I just pick them up in Dealz, Pennys/Primark or Tesco whenever I feel like they need to be replaced & they are really cheap too!

Shower Gel

At the moment I am loving the shower gels by Cussons Imperial Leather & Im currently using Revitalising Ylang Ylang & Juniper. Honestly one of the most important things for me in a shower gel is the smell as it fills up you whole shower. I want something that is going to make me feel happy & clean & awake! Also its going to stay on your skin as well. Dont get me wrong I want it to have nice ingrediants & be good for your skin but whats the point in having a shower and using a product that makes you want to gag (okay a little extreame, but you get my point) & this is definitely one the main reasons I keep going back to the Cussons Imperial Leather shower gels

Shaving foam/ Cream & Razors

I love the Gillette Shaving foam & in particular the one that is infused with Olay. I always go back to Gillette, I just love it. I have used others in the past but I will always come back to it.
Now for razors if I am using disposable ones I will always use mens (as pictured here) as I just personally believe they work better but if I am using one with the disposable heads again I will always Gillette but I just wish they werent so expensive all the time #sadface I usually wait until Boots are having some kind of offer on them.  My favourites are the Spa Breeze or the one infused with Olay.

That is pretty much all I use in the shower as I dont wash my face in the shower I do that before or after depending on whether I have make up on or not.

Body Moisturising Cream

I am currently on the hunt for a in-shower body conditioner & I think I will be picking one up from Lush or I think Nivea have brought one out too. This is mainly because I am lazy & hate putting on moisturiser & waiting for it to dry. The one I am currently trying out is the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion but a favourite of mine is the Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moistuiser (You read a full review by clicking here Review - Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturiser )

There you have it! Pretty much everything that I use in my shower routine! Obviously I change it up every now & again but these are the types of products I will always use in every shower!

Please leave a comment down below with any recommendations of any shower products you think I might like & should pick up on my next shopping trip!!
